I just got back from a photo safari in Death Valley. I went out with ByWinslow.com. It was supposed to be an excursion to shoot the Milky Way. Unfortunately we got clouded out.

Fortunately, as a group we pivoted. (Meaning we didn’t have to be up at 2am setting up our shots in 33degree weather.) What we DID do was get to capture a cloudy, stormy Death Valley- even more rare than the Milky Way…
We also got 2 great editing seminars from Garrett.
I really enjoyed being outside and getting to hang out with some really cool photographers. I got to watch a friend of 30 years come “alive” practicing new techniques and seeing things in a different way.

I chose these photos because they show Death Valley in a different light. When I think of Death Valley, I think of solitude and vast, barren landscapes under a punishing sky. Here is a different view. An oasis of peace and comfort. A gathering of people who are relaxing and becoming friends as we share our photographic journey together.
We’ll be back in April for the Milky Way and the wildflowers. Hop over to ByWinslow.com to signup and come along.
